What Are Their Names (Young/Garcia/Lesh/Shrieve/Crosby)

I wonder who they are, the men who really run this land
And I wonder why they run it with such a thoughtless hand
What are their names and on what streets do they live
I'd like to ride right over this afternoon
And give them a piece of my mind
about peace for mankind
Peace is not an awful lot to ask

David Crosby   1971
"If I Could Only Remember My Name.."

Barncard (the producer) tells on YouTube 2012:
After I recorded the track for this on David's first solo album
he told me he was inspired to write the words on the back of
an envelope during a flight somewhere. Later, in the studio
after laying down the tracks for one of the many jams that
went down with Garcia, Lesh, Crosby, and Shreve, David did
the vocal, then asked almost everyone in the combined voices
of members of the Dead, the Airplane and even Joni Mitchell
to join in the vocal chorus
